Continental Invests in New Equipment and Facility Upgrades in Winchester, Virginia

  • Investment of $10.3 million for building expansion and new equipment
  • Additional manufacturing jobs created and product offerings to the U.S. market

Winchester, Va. November 5, 2018. Technology company Continental invested $10,3 million in new equipment and facility upgrades to produce high end synthetic leather materials in Winchester, Virginia, which are used in transportation, recreation and hospitality markets. The investment includes a raw material storage area, new mixing and production equipment as well as upgrades to existing equipment at the facility.

“With this new investment, the plant is now poised for future growth by providing additional synthetic product offerings with quick turnaround times,” said Scott Krueger, plant manager. The Winchester facility will be one of the few manufacturing plants in the U.S. to offer localized production in the region for synthetic surface materials which are in high demand by many customers for automotive interiors and interior upholstery applications.

Continental’s investment in the Winchester facility provides 61 new jobs and confirms its commitment to the surface material industry. Production of the material using the newly installed state-of-the-art equipment is scheduled to begin late 2018, with supply to customers starting in first quarter 2019. The plant is situated on approximately 50 acres of land, employs more than 450 employees and has been in the city of Winchester since 1932.
