IAA 2015: From R&D on to the Road – Continental Presents Building Blocks for the Car of the Future
- 3D cinema: Experience automated driving and the dialog between human and vehicle
- "Summer of innovations": new features for increased safety, environmental protection, and convenience
- Continental forum with numerous events on opportunities for future employees
Hanover, July 27, 2015. Like a golden ribbon, the evolution of technology at the international technology corporation Continental will adorn the booth at IAA 2015 (Hall 5.1, Booth A07, from September 17 to 27). "Three out of every four cars in the world are more environmentally friendly and safer, easier and more comfortable to drive thanks to the solutions, products, and systems from Continental. At the IAA, we will be showing innovations that will soon be seen on the road. In doing so, we will again show how completely connected Continental is for such innovations in its capacity as a technology company," says Dr. Elmar Degenhart, chairman of the Continental Executive Board, just a few short weeks before the opening of the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. Among other things, Continental will be displaying its new generation of tires, hybrid drive systems for all vehicle classes, improved brake systems, ever-more advanced driver assistance systems, lightweight products, and components that make operating a car easy.
IAA highlight in the summer of innovations
Continental will be unveiling R&D highlights throughout the summer, which the general public will have the chance to see up close at the IAA. At the booth, visitors will also get a chance to see components that will appear in production cars soon and those that are in the final stage of development. Furthermore, the systems exhibited will show visitors how the vehicles of the future will assist drivers. A photo-realistic 3D cinema will give visitors a chance to sit in a virtual cockpit of the future. They will then experience how holistic dialog between vehicle and driver as well as the connectivity of the vehicle make driving safer, easier, more convenient, and more efficient. Examples from the development roadmap for automated driving will show the convenience and efficiency gains that can be made in the cars of the future.
World premiere at IAA: The new ultra-high-performance SportContact 6 summer tire provides maximum grip, maximum control, and maximum stability at very high speeds of up to 350 km/h.
Lightweight design: ContiTech in particular will show how lightweight components help to make vehicles lighter and in doing lower CO2 emissions. One example is the award-winning transmission crossbeam made from glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide.
Hybrid drive systems for everyone: Networked energy management, 48 volt hybrid drive systems, and turbocharger technologies make driving more efficient and even more fun.
SensePlanAct: Under the slogan SensePlanAct, Continental will display active and passive safety technologies and products that support driving dynamics.
Highly accurate and always up to date: Continental will show how the cloud makes driving more efficient, safer, and easier, and how the cloud will become part of assisted and automated driving. (eHorizon).
Opportunities for new talents
At IAA 2015, Continental will grant pride of place to the subject of careers. During the public days, visitors will be able to find out about the company and its products. In the second week of the IAA, presentations and panel discussions with management personnel at the Continental forum will offer personal insights into the working world of Continental. In Hall 5.1, school students and interested talented people can look forward to specialist information as well as first-hand experience of the working environment, and development and career opportunities at an international corporation – one that is helping to shape the mobility of tomorrow. Human Relations experts from Continental will be available to answer any questions the visitors may have.
New systems to experience at the New Mobility World
As part of the special "New Mobility World" exhibition, IAA visitors will also be able to find out first-hand about state-of-the-art advanced driver assistance systems. Furthermore, in the outdoor area, they will be able to experience assistance systems for traffic jams or parking, emergency braking and vehicle-to-X scenarios. Continental will also be in the New Mobility World forum in Hall 3.1, holding expert lectures on automated driving, electric mobility in practice, mobility services, and connected vehicles.
