Automotive: Headquarters of Independent Company Will Be in Frankfurt Am Main

  • Continental’s Automotive group sector intends to establish its legally independent corporate headquarters at its current location in Frankfurt am Main

Frankfurt, Germany, March 19, 2025. Following the Supervisory Board’s approval of the spin-off last week, Continental’s Automotive group sector has decided to establish the headquarters of the planned independent company in Frankfurt am Main. The aim is to locate the headquarters of the new automotive company at the current site in the Guerickestraße by mid-2025. In total about 4.230 employees work in the Continental-location in Frankfurt in production, research and development and administration (by December 31, 2024).

“We’re creating an independent, high-performing and globally positioned company defined by advanced technologies and innovative strength, a high level of adaptability to market and technology trends and a sharp entrepreneurial mindset. By choosing to locate our corporate headquarters in Frankfurt am Main, we’ve taken a further step toward independence and are underscoring our strong presence in the Rhine-Main region,” said Philipp von Hirschheydt, Continental Executive Board member and head of the Automotive group sector.

Frankfurt's Mayor Mike Josef welcomes the decision in favor of the location and thanks for the good discussions in recent weeks: "In these challenging times, location decisions in the industrial sector are important for the stabilization and development of our economy. In particular, with the decision to locate the headquarters of the future independent Automotive group sector in Frankfurt, Continental is strengthening the diversity and thus the resilience of our business location. We warmly welcome the new automotive company."

As an independent, globally positioned entity, Automotive is expected to offer advanced electronic products and modern mobility solutions. Its listing on the stock exchange is scheduled for September. The group sector Automotive employs around 92,000 people (December 31, 2024) and generated sales of around €19.4 billion in fiscal 2024. It has a high level of technological and system expertise as well as vertical integration. The sector has carved out a strong market position for innovative sensor solutions and displays as well as technologically leading brake and comfort systems, and has extensive expertise in software, architecture platforms and assistance systems for the rapidly growing future market of software-defined and autonomous vehicles.
