New Conti EfficientPro 5 Commercial Vehicle Tire with Innovative Compound Technology Increases Mileage
- Continental introduces the new Conti EfficientPro HS5 and HD5
- Innovative silica compound reduces rolling resistance
- Improved mileage and increased range possible
- Confidence and safety: excellent handling in all weathers
Hanover, Germany, January 20, 2025. Continental has brought its new Conti EfficientPro 5 for the commercial vehicle segment onto the market. Featuring the silica compound vec2Sil, this tire has been developed to maximize fuel and energy efficiency in long-distance haulage and reduce carbon emissions. “With the new Conti EfficientPro 5, we are helping our customers to meet stringent carbon reduction targets, lower their operating costs and get ready for a future with electric drive systems,” says Hinnerk Kaiser, Head of Product Development EMEA at Continental. “Following an intensive development phase, our Conti EfficientPro 5 provides a solution that meets the demands of long-distance haulage today.” The vec2Sil technology delivers a combination of reduced rolling resistance and high mileage. The new Conti EfficientPro 5 thus helps fleet operators to make their vehicles energy efficient on the move and to lower toll costs. “The tire offers outstanding wet grip and secure handling throughout its life,” continues Kaiser. “A higher load index increases the load-bearing capacity of the tires, meaning there is no need to compromise on payloads for electric trucks.”
Innovation made in Germany
The development team at Continental has optimized the vec2Sil technology specifically for long-distance haulage. “The combination of reduced rolling resistance and long service life makes this tire unique,” explains Kaiser. In addition, an innovative tread design with void-generating grooves ensures consistently good handling and braking performance, even on wet or snow-covered roads. High levels of grip and stability mean safe driving in all weathers.
Efficient vehicle operation
This technology from Continental cuts operating costs and is sensitive to the environment. “Thanks to the cutting-edge vec2Sil technology and the optimized tread pattern, we were able to significantly reduce rolling resistance,” emphasizes Hinnerk Kaiser. “This helps vehicle manufacturers to comply with EU Regulations 2019/2400 and 2019/1241 and ensures their vehicles operate economically.” The new tread design of the Conti EfficientPro 5 additionally provides reliable traction and wet grip in all weather conditions. “This means that our customers are excellently equipped to deliver their goods safely and on time,” Kaiser points out. What is more, the robust casing ensures optimum retreadability too.
Electric driving
The Conti EfficientPro 5 is ideally suited to electrically powered commercial vehicles. “It is the first tire in this segment that gives special consideration to the requirements of electric vehicles,” notes Kaiser. With its higher load index and reinforced belt layers, the HS5 tire ensures excellent stability, durability and safety – even when carrying heavy loads. “The new Conti EfficientPro 5 is perfect for fleet managers who prioritize both efficiency and safety. This tire marks a milestone for fleets that are already embracing electric mobility and sustainability today.”
