Continental has Test-Winning Line-up Ready for the Winter

  • New WinterContact 8 S now available at retailers
  • Multiple accolades for Continental winter tires in recent tests
  • AllSeasonContact 2 is sure-footed alternative for year-round use

Hanover, Germany, October 22, 2024. Continental is starting the winter season with an updated range of tires for every vehicle. This includes the brand new WinterContact 8S. The new high-tech tire which is also suitable for particularly powerful vehicles joins the WinterContact TS 870 and WinterContact TS 870 P in the range, both of which have been awarded top marks in independent tests conducted by automobile associations and motoring magazines. As an alternative, the tire manufacturer offers the AllSeasonContact 2, an all-season tire that also boasts outstanding test results. The winter and all-season tires from Continental are suitable for vehicles with any type of drive system. Some are also available with the ContiSeal technology that provides a self-sealing response to punctures or the ContiSilent technology for exceptionally low levels of road noise on board.

WinterContact 8 S adds a new tire to the line-up

Engineered for maximum grip on dry and wet roads, the new WinterContact 8 S has been designed with elite, high-performance cars in mind. It therefore delivers supreme dry handling and extremely short braking distances in the dry and wet, allowing drivers to continue making full use of the performance potential of sports cars, sporty everyday cars/SUVs, and high-powered sedans during the winter months. At the same time, it also offers excellent safety on snow-covered winter roads, ensuring drivers are well-equipped for driving throughout the colder months of the year. The tires will be manufactured for wheel rims of 19 to 22 inches in diameter from launch, with speed ratings as high as 270 km/h (168 mph).

The WinterContact TS 870 – safe handling in winter for micro to midsize models

The WinterContact TS 870 offers drivers of smaller cars up to the midsize segment a safe-handling tire when the going gets cold. It was developed to provide good traction on dry, wet, and wintry roads, and additionally features sustainability-enhancing properties such as low rolling resistance and high mileage. It achieved the highest mark ("good") awarded in tests carried out by the ADAC, Germany’s automobile association praising its precise and safe handling properties on dry, wet, and wintry roads.

The tire’s high score is also partly down to its strong mileage, as forecast by the ADAC after testing. In the German AUTO BILD test, the WinterContact TS 870 was awarded the top score of ‘exemplary’ and an overall score of 1.2. The tire is manufactured for wheel rims between 14 and 19 inches in diameter and in widths from 155 to 225 millimeters.

The WinterContact TS 870 P – suitable for larger sedans and SUVs

The WinterContact TS 870 P is the right choice for larger cars from the midsize segment upwards and for larger SUVs. It excels with precise, secure handling on typical winter roads as well as in the dry and wet. This combines with low rolling resistance – an important factor both in extending the range of electric cars in winter too and lowering fuel consumption (and therefore reducing environmental impact) in conventionally powered cars. This year, the German motoring magazine "auto motor und sport" graded it as "very good" in their test. The WinterContact TS 870 P was also rated “highly recommended” and "fuel-saving recommendation" by the German trade magazine Auto Zeitung. The WinterContact TS 870 P is produced for wheel rims between 16 and 22 inches in diameter, in widths from 205 to 325 millimeters and with aspect ratios from 70 to 35 percent. It has a speed rating of up to 270 km/h (168 mph), depending on tire size.

Ready for action the whole year round: the AllSeasonContact 2

Introduced only last year, the AllSeasonContact 2 is suitable for a wide variety of car and SUV models, regardless of the type of drive system involved. Continental has significantly increased the mileage of the AllSeasonContact 2 compared to its predecessor, at the same time as lowering rolling resistance – all without compromising safety in any way. The AllSeasonContact 2 promises accurate handling on dry roads together with short braking distances on both wet and dry surfaces. Meanwhile, the AllSeasonContact 2 matches the high standards set by its predecessor for ride quality, secure performance in snow and resistance to aquaplaning. The AllSeasonContact 2 is produced in a wide range of variants for wheel rims between 15 and 21 inches in diameter. In AUTO BILD's 2024 all-season tire test, the AllSeasonContact 2 was rated "exemplary".
