Continental Winter Tire Rated "Very Good" by German Magazine AUTO Straßenverkehr

  • WinterContact TS 870 P rated "very good" by editors
  • Experts praise balance, safety, and low rolling resistance
  • A total of ten tire models from international manufacturers tested

Hanover, Germany, September 11, 2024. In its latest issue (21/24), the editorial team of the German car magazine AUTO Straßenverkehr has rated Continental’s WinterContact TS 870 P as "very good". The magazine tested ten winter tire models of European, Asian, and American brands in size 235/55 R 18. The test was carried out on a Seat Tarraco.

The WinterContact TS 870 P showed a high level of balance in all test conditions: "Without any significant weaknesses" and with "extremely low rolling resistance, particularly recommended for electrically powered or fuel-sensitive vehicles", concluded the editorial team. Low rolling resistance is particularly important for electric cars in winter operation, as it saves drive energy and allows longer ranges. On conventionally powered cars, it reduces fuel consumption, good for the household budget and the individual CO2 balance.

In the driving tests, the Continental winter tire took first place for handling on wet and dry roads, achieved good results in the aquaplaning test, and demonstrated safe driving performance on winter roads.

The WinterContact TS 870 P is suitable for mid-sized cars and SUVs. It offers precise and safe handling on typical winter roads as well as on dry and wet roads. The WinterContact TS 870 P is manufactured to fit rims with diameters ranging from 16 to 22 inches, widths from 205 to 325 millimeters, and cross-sections from 70 to 35 percent, and is approved for speeds of up to 270 km/h, depending on the size.
