Opel, Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW – Continental offers new exhaust gas temperature sensors for the aftermarket
- Continental now offers exhaust gas temperature sensors for most VW brands
- The new sensors are available for ordering and delivery
Schwalbach, Germany April 26, 2022. Continental is expanding its product range to include exhaust gas temperature sensors (EGT sensors) for the Volkswagen Group brands VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat. The technology company is also expanding its EGT sensor program for the Opel brand and now includes large-volume delivery models such as the Astra, Corsa and Mokka. Continental sensors for various models from the Mercedes, Volvo and VW Group brands are already established on the market. The portfolio expansion includes forty-eight part numbers. The new sensors in the usual OEM quality are available to order and can be delivered in sufficient quantities. “We are consistently expanding our offers in the aftermarket, moving closer to our goal of a one-stop shop for workshops,” says Peter Wagner, Head of Continental’s Automotive Aftermarket business segment. “This strengthens our position as an important partner for workshops and trade retailers.”
EGT sensors in OE quality for efficient engine management
Modern gasoline and diesel vehicles rely on EGT sensors for engine management and efficient exhaust gas after-treatment. They provide information on the temperature in the exhaust gas stream and on components such as turbochargers, catalytic converters, diesel particle filters and nitrogen oxide reduction systems (NOx reduction systems). The sensors detect when components are overheating, protecting them from defects. They also reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions by monitoring operating temperatures in the exhaust system and providing reliable measured values to the engine control unit.
