New WinterContact TS 860 S – Guaranteed to deliver “cool” performance
With the WinterContact TS 860 S Continental has a winter tire specifically made for sports cars and high-powered models designed for dynamic driving. This winter specialist delivers top performance in terms of braking distances and handling on dry roads as well as handling properties on snow. With the WinterContact TS 860 S, Continental is responding to the many different needs of the manufacturers and drivers of high-performance cars. So when the tire was being developed, the focus was above all on short braking distances and precision handling in the dry, as well as on top-class handling properties on snow. This winter specialist achieves its short braking distances by means of its “braking band” – a wide rib running through the center of the tread, offering a large surface with which to build up grip. Stiff, broad shoulder blocks deliver maximum grip for a precision steering response, while the many tread grooves and traction sipes in the tread blocks make for good interlocking with snow, enabling sporty driving even on typical wintry roads. For the replacement sector, Continental has prepared a compound that delivers high flexibility even in winter. The specific and different needs of automakers such as Audi Sport GmbH, BMW M Gmbh, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche are met with customized rubber compounds in each case. The WinterContact TS 860 S is available in 14 sizes for 18 to 21-inch rims and approved for speeds of up to 270 km/h – including numerous versions with XL marking indicating higher load capacity and/or a rim protection rib. Six of these tires feature SSR runflat technology and ContiSilent technology for particularly quiet running.
The WinterContact TS 860 – Specialist for compact and lower mid-range cars
The WinterContact TS 860 is the winter specialist for more compact and smaller vehicles. Compared to its proven predecessor, it delivers substantial progress in all safety-relevant properties. When braking on wet wintry roads, for example, it performs a remarkable five percent better than the ContiWinterContact TS 850. Braking distances are four percent shorter on ice and there are improvements in snow handling, grip on snow and ride quality as well. Mileage and rolling resistance are similar to those of the successful predecessor model. This cold-weather professional mainly owes its outstanding capabilities to three technical innovations: Liquid Layer Drainage cuts braking distances on icy roads, while SnowCurve+ technology makes for safe cornering on snow-covered roads. And the tire’s Cool Chili compound delivers maximum braking performance. The WinterContact TS 860 is currently available in 66 sizes for 13 to 17-inch rims and approved for speeds of up to 240 km/h – including numerous versions with XL marking indicating higher load capacity and /or a rim protection rib.
4x4 winter tires – For up to 22-inch rims and speeds of up to 270 km/h
Continental tires also make a good choice as replacements on SUVs and 4WD vehicles. Along with the special versions of the very sporty winter flagship model, the WinterContact TS 860 S, and its proven predecessor, the WinterContact TS 850 P, there are also two out-and-out winter specialists to choose from, in the shape of the Conti4x4WinterContact and the ContiCrossContact Winter. In all, Continental has winter tires for SUVs and 4WD models in sizes from 15 to 22 inches and with approvals for speeds of up to 270 km/h. All of these products bear not only the M+S identifier but also the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol.
Winter tires for light commercial vehicles and vans – robust and safe performance
In the Vanco Winter 2 and the VanContact Winter, Continental has two specialist tires in its line-up that have been specially designed to meet the characteristic needs of vans, light commercial vehicles and recreational vehicles in the cold season – delivering improved traction, short braking distances on wintry roads, high resistance to aquaplaning, and good fuel economy. In all, Continental has winter tires for vans, light commercial vehicles and recreational vehicless in sizes from 14 to 17 inches and with approvals for speeds of up to 210 km/h. All of these products bear not only the M+S identifier but also the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol.
