Insights into the development of tires for EV’s
Electromobility is a key to more climate-friendly and sustainable mobility. Continental has more than 10 years of development experience in the field of tires for electromobility. We focused our tire development on the new requirements of alternative drive systems at an early stage - we introduced the Conti.eContact, a tire specially adapted to the electric and hybrid vehicle market, already at IAA 2011. Since then, we have further expanded our position in the field of tires for hybrid and fully electric vehicles. In 2021, seven of the ten highest-volume manufacturers of fully electric vehicles worldwide relied on the tire manufacturer's high level of technological expertise as original equipment. In this session, Dr. Holger Lange, Head of R&D Original Equipment Passenger and Light Truck Tires, will provide insights into the development of original equipment tires for electric vehicles as well as our development achievements.
