Requirements to Environmental Conditions
To be considered during the design process:
Lighting
Continental's external suppliers/manufacturers find information on our requirements to an ergonomically correct designed machine.
- Lighting must be appropriate for the relevant visual task (e.g. warehouse work, assembly activity, test station)
- Use of lights that are suitable for the tasks to be performed on the production facilities
- Avoidance of glare (direct and reflected glare)
- Suitable surfaces at the workplace (reflection degree)
Glare, Reflections and Shadows
Continental's external suppliers/manufacturers find information on our requirements to an ergonomically correct designed machine.
- Position of lighting, e.g. arrangement of linear lighting parallel to the window
- Appropriate incorporation of direct light sources, e.g. downlights
- Use of matt, low-reflectance surfaces
- Appropriate choice of color for balanced brightness and a balanced contrast
- A mix of diffuse lighting with reflected and direct and indirect glare
- Avoid harsh shadows
- Homogenous luminance over the face and the working area
Noise
Continental's external suppliers/manufacturers find information on our requirements to an ergonomically correct designed machine.
- Low noise workplaces are to be designed
- Avoid any noise producing sources (noise generation, noise transmission, noise radiation)
- Determine sources of noise in the design phase and remove them if possible
- Include neighboring work areas in the evaluation of the design
- Reduce acoustic signals to the minimum necessary
- Implement noise protection measures
- Determine and reduce equivalent continuous noise pressure levels and peak sound pressure levels
(e.g. by release of compressed air)
Vibrations / Thermal Radiation
Continental's external suppliers/manufacturers find information on our requirements to an ergonomically correct designed machine.
- Low thermal radiation is required for every workplace so that the room temperature is influenced as low as possible
- Heat shield (insulation)
- Option of an exhaust air connection (extraction)
