Erich Maria Remarque as Editor of the Magazine "Echo Continental"

March 2023: Four Oscars for “All Quiet on the Western Front”! Did you know that Erich Maria Remarque, the author of the book, was once a Continental employee? In the 1920s, he was a writer and later editor-in-chief of our customer magazine "Echo Continental”. His texts from that time were full of humor, irony and a fine sense of the zeitgeist. 

The widespread fascination with motor sports and individual mobility played a major role in his texts. That was before the success of “All Quiet on the Western Front”. Remarque reported decades later that he had learned the editorial skills at Continental: as an “authority in rubber”. 95 years after the publication of his book, Remarque is back in the spotlight.
