Sustainable Trainee Projects
From Idea to Realisation: Our Trainees Become Doers
‘Ideas are very welcome!": We involve our apprentices and dual students at an early stage, because the ‘Fridays4future’ generation brings inspiring perspectives and in-depth knowledge on the topic of sustainability. As a company, we can benefit from this and at the same time offer young people a sense of purpose. With the Sustainability Award, we go one step further and motivate all trainees to actively engage with the topic. Promising and outstanding projects have emerged in this context that take Continental another step forward in terms of sustainability.
Award for Sustainability: Trainees Show Their Commitment
Once a year, we present the award for sustainability and social commitment to apprentices and dual students throughout Germany who are working on sustainable projects and initiatives. In this way, we inspire our trainees to develop innovative ideas themselves in order to make our company more sustainable. The perspective of Generation Z is particularly valuable here.
And this is how it works
Trainees present and submit their projects and initiatives using a flyer or one-pager. All trainees can view the submissions via a Germany-wide training community and vote for their favourite project. The winning teams will travel to the head office in Hanover as part of the award ceremony, where they will be honoured by our HR Director. In addition to an exciting supporting program, the award ceremony also offers plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas and network.
Here is a selection of projects that have been honoured with the Sustainability Award:
Artificial Leather Thought Differently: Production from Biomaterials
The main aim of the project is to make the production of films, artificial leather and textiles as sustainable as possible. The idea is to use biodegradable and ecologically degradable products and use them in production
Energy Scouts in Action for the Environment
Uncovering leaks in production and thus optimising compressed air consumption – this is a project of the trainees from Regensburg. As part of their training as energy scouts, they have thus achieved considerable cost and energy savings.
