Sustainability in Action

Sustainable projects can not only be implemented in one's own company. Many initiatives and events by bright minds offer the opportunity to join. For example, we are committed to sustainable urban development in Hanover together with students. We offer our trainees a sustainable car as an additional benefit for good performance.

SmartCityDays: Pupils Design a Sustainable City

The Smart City Days are an annual event dedicated to the topic of cities of the future. Here, companies, experts, interested parties and students come together to discuss and exchange ideas about innovative, long-term and sustainable solutions and concepts for a sustainable city in the future.

During the Smart City Days, students from the 9th grade onwards can take part in various activities, such as workshops or lectures.

In addition, the results of the Bessermacher:in project will be presented - an initiative that works together with students from Hanover. In the project groups, they create various solutions for a smart, sustainable and more livable city. Continental accompanies a school class in its Design Thinking process, offers insights behind the scenes and presents the students with real problems from everyday business life that need to be solved.

One of the projects created by the students is dedicated to the preservation of old tires from incineration: The tires are converted into seating, flowerpots or trash cans, thus changing the cityscape of Hanover in a sustainable and innovative way. You can get more information here.

Sustainable Mobility: Electric Car for Committed Trainees and Students

Right of way for sustainability! Our a and dual students at the Weißbach site in Baden-Württemberg enjoy a special benefit: For great commitment and good performance, the young talents are allowed to use the Cupra Born electric car for a month - both professionally and privately. All costs incurred will be borne by Continental. Charging is free of charge on the factory premises. The "little black dress" is not only fully electric, but also environmentally friendly: It drives its passengers around on sports seats made from recycled plastic waste from oceans and rivers. The energy used in the supply chain and in the production of raw materials is generated from renewable sources. The CO²-neutral concept has been confirmed by the independent Green NCAP environmental test.
