Strong Team Celebrates 30th Anniversary
Hello, my name is Youngsoo Yang. I am the Head of System Engineering. I work in the Engine Systems business unit at the Powertrain Division’s Icheon plant in South Korea. This year we celebrated our 30th anniversary.
That was a special day for me, too, because I have been at the plant since day one. I came here straight from university – and as far as I’m concerned, I’d like to retire from my professional career in the same place as I started. That alone says a lot about our location and the people who work here. We have a great working climate and fantastic team spirit. The Continental core value “Freedom To Act” is put into practice every day here, something that we employees really appreciate. This freedom helps us to continue the optimization of our excellent working conditions which ultimately enable us to deliver the best possible product to our customers.
We have not only been voted one of the 100 most popular companies in Korea by the international research and consultancy institute GWP Korea for 15 years running. We have also built up strong, successful relationships with customers, local associations and communities that will help to sustain and shape the future of the plant and Continental as a whole. The main focus here is on forging stronger partnerships within the domestic automotive market. Our distinguishing features are a high R&D capacity and a strong, highly qualified workforce which has used teamwork to take our expertise, in particular, to a new level. Over the years we have worked hard to put ourselves in a strong competitive position – something we are very proud of.
Looking ahead, we will pursue Continental’s strategy to realize the digital transformation and promote the spirit of innovation, as well as continuing to invest in the consolidation of our position as technology leaders. In short, we want to ensure that the next 30 years are every bit as successful as the last.
