My Journey at Continental: A Place Like Family

Hi, my name is Jamchit Ebrahem, though everyone at work knows me as Jimmy. I’m 43 years old, married, and a father of three. I have been with Continental for 22 years now, and in that time, the people here have become like family to me.

My journey started in 1998 when I moved to Germany as part of a family reunification. It was a big adjustment, but one of the best things that happened to me was landing an apprenticeship at Continental. That opportunity helped me not only adapt to life in a new country but also gave me a chance to build a fulfilling career.

After completing my apprenticeship, I began working in production, where I honed my skills and learned from some amazing colleagues. Over the years, I was promoted to shift manager, a role I have proudly held for several years now. My responsibilities include shift scheduling, personnel management, conducting employee interviews, and making sure our production targets are met.

Working on Innovation and Sustainability

At Continental, we manufacture compensators—critical components used in pipelines. What excites me most is that we are also producing and testing these for hydrogen as an alternative energy source. This means that soon, buses, trucks, and excavators could be powered emission-free. Being part of a company that is actively working on sustainable, future-driven solutions is something I take great pride in.

There are a lot of things I love about working here. The innovative projects, the strong sense of teamwork, and the development opportunities have made my career exciting and fulfilling. But beyond that, it is the people—the colleagues who feel like family—that keep me going. Over the years, I have made connections that go beyond the workplace, and that sense of community is something I treasure.

Life Beyond Work

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. One of our favorite activities is playing soccer with my son, and on weekends, we all head to our shared garden spot. It is a place where we relax, have barbeques, and enjoy time together as a family. Those moments are what life is all about, and I’m grateful for a job that allows me to balance work and family so well.

A Bright Future at Continental

After 22 years, I can confidently say that Continental is more than just a job for me. It is a place where I have grown, where I have been supported, and where I have built a second family. The innovative work we do, combined with the strong relationships we build, makes Continental a place I’m proud to be a part of. And I look forward to what the future holds.
