Interview: Firdaus Shukri About His Work @ Continental in Malaysia
Give us three things you like about your country.
We are unique in terms of diversity of races, religions and cultures with a stable and peaceful environment. On top of that, there are many interesting places: beaches, islands and the rainforest, beautiful places where I spend quality time with my family. Finally, the food in Malaysia is amazing. There is not only Malay, Chinese and Indian food, but some foods are an amalgamation of different cultures. It is a food lover’s paradise, really.
A typical day starts with …
… performing an early morning salah and prayer. My daughter leaves for school at 7.00 a.m., and then I spend about 30 minutes of quality time with my wife and the younger kids before I prepare myself to go to work.
What do you like about your job?
Overall, I love the challenge of managing the manufacturing team to overcome daily obstacles and any issues arising. People from every level of the team are welcome to submit ideas to help with solving problems and improving processes. This ensures positive teamwork and is an expression of the fact that everyone in the team is equally important.
What would you like to improve?
I would like to expand my knowledge and skills that are required in terms of business and company management for my future career development.
What dream would you like to come true one day?
By the time I reach my 40s, I would like to see myself as a part of the senior management of the company. On a personal level, I wish I could travel all around the world with my lovely family one day.
