Continental in Slovakia is located in three locations: Dolné Vestenice, Púchov and Zvolen. All our three business sectors are represented on the Slovak market: Tires, Automotive as well as ContiTech. We have more than 8,000 colleagues working in our threelocations and our diverse product portfolio includes tires, braking systems and sophisticated dynamic components for a wide range of vehicle and machine types.

Dolné Vestenice

Our branch in Dolné Vestenice was founded in 1996 and we manufacture sophisticated and dynamic components for a wide range of vehicle types and machines. Our extensive portfolio of 1620 products includes anti-vibration, suspension or sealing solutions that are used in passenger, freight, sea or rail transport or in machinery. We supply our products to more than 150 customers worldwide. By investing in research and development, our company creates innovative solutions for the future of mobility.

Our products can be found in electric vehicles and trucks, too. Environment and sustainability is key to us and our current efforts result in a recycling quota of more than 80%.

In our plant, we employ over 670 people and we motivate them with interesting remuneration, benefits and varied employee offerings.

Púchov

Our roots date back to 1950, when tire production was officially launched in Púchov. Currently, Continental Tires Slovakia is the largest plant for the production of truck and bus tires in Europe and we are among the TOP 5 largest European manufacturers of tires for passenger cars and light trucks. In 2023 alone, we produced almost 37 million tires and our wide portfolio includes brands such as Continental, Matador, Uniroyal, Barum, Semperit, Mabor, Viking, General Tire, Gislaved and Sportiva. 

Our plant is also home to the second largest R&D center in the Tire Group. With more than 4,900 colleagues, we are one of the largest employers in the region.

Zvolen

In the heart of Slovakia, in Continental Zvolen, we manufacture brake calipers and electronic parking brakes for leading automotive manufacturers around the world. With more than 1100 employees in our location, we are proud to be amongst the largest employer of the region.

Zvolen has been selected as a model plant for Industry 4.0, which means that we are developing intelligent solutions for mechanical production plants in the field of Industry 4.0 and defining future standards. Our R&D center is an integral part of this initiative. Here, at the heart of innovation and development, more than 300 enthusiastic engineers and specialists work in the application development of braking systems.

History

Since it was founded in 1871, Continental has developed into one of the world’s leading technology companies. In its early days, Continental produced parts made of soft rubber, such as hoof buffers for horses. From the outset, the strategic focus has always been on diversity and innovation. Shortly after its foundation, the company manufactured more than 60,000 items – from the initial hoof guard and hard rubber parts for various applications to rubberized fabrics for airplanes, airships and hot air balloons.

Early on, Continental brought numerous innovations to the market, such as pneumatic tires for bicycles in 1892 and tread tires for cars in 1904. As a result, Continental has become known worldwide in the past century. Today, we are one of the world’s key suppliers for mobility. With the experience we have gained over 150 years and our expertise across the company, we will continue to set the technological benchmark and play a leading role in shaping the transformation in the automotive industry.

Continental is constantly searching not only for new potential clients, but also for new potential suppliers and business partners. Within Continental a big range of purchasing activities are centralized and executed by the Corporate Purchasing department. We are divided into Production Material and Non-Production Material, with teams working in different countries all over the world.

The Automotive group sector comprises technologies for passive safety, brake, chassis, motion and motion control systems. Innovative solutions for assisted and automated driving, display and operating technologies, as well as audio and camera solutions for the vehicle interior, are also part of the portfolio, as is intelligent information and communication technology for the mobility services of fleet operators and commercial vehicle manufacturers.
